Daniel Carter is a New York based Cinematographer working mostly in Documentary Films and Series that challenge and expand the social status quo. Daniel was Director of Photography on the docuseries Golden: The Journey of USA's Elite Gymnasts and We Are: The Brooklyn Saints. He was also DP on the feature documentaries Jane Goodall: The Hope; Swiped: Hooking Up in the Digital Age; Like Any Other Kid; and Dangerous Acts Starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus, a 2015 EMMY winner for News-Documentary Outstanding Arts and Culture Programming.
He also collaborated on Quest for Honor, shortlisted for the 2011 Oscars Best Documentary and an Official Selection at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival; The Lottery, shortlisted for the 2011 Oscars Best Documentary; Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1, a 2015 Oscars winner for Best Documentary Short Subject; Cartel Land, a winner at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival for Directing and Cinematography, a 2016 Emmy winner for Cinematography, and a 2016 Oscars nominee for Best Documentary; Weiner, winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival; Boys State, winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival; and the Fight, winner of the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
