William F. Brandt, Jr.

Executive Producer
William F. Brandt, Jr. is a cofounder and former CEO of American Woodmark Corporation, which was formed in 1980 to acquire Boise Cascade Corporation’s kitchen cabinet business. American Woodmark is among the top three largest cabinet manufacturers. Annual sales have grown from $35 million to over $1.5 billion. Brandt has written a book, Compass, designed to help leaders create exceptional organizations. He consults in the areas of CEO coaching, leadership, strategy and cultural change. He has served on a number of for—profit and nonprofit boards, including a hospital, a health care system, a university and an international humanitarian aid organization. He is an angel investor and advisor to a number of medical and other start—up companies. He is the Executive Producer of the documentary HERE. IS. BETTER. After reading a New York Times article in September 2015, which described difficulties veterans were experiencing, Brandt assembled a team which conducted a retreat for veterans experiencing PTSD. The success of that retreat resulted in the creation of a non—profit organization to continue that work. Out of the critiquing of a subsequent retreat came the vision of creating a documentary which would have two objectives: first, to give hope to veterans with PTSD that they would benefit by stepping forward and seeking treatment, and second, for family, friends and the civilian community to reach out a hand to help those who have taken that first step. HERE. IS. BETTER. is the culmination of that vision.
